The Choice about Key ES

“You can't please all the people all of the time”…this quote has been attributed to John Lydgate, Abe Lincoln and PT Barnum. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter who said it, it matters who lives it.

We live it here in Arlington. No one seems to win in boundary changes. Yet changes must be made: a process fraught with contentions and enormous strife at times.

There are decisions that cause more angst than others; that call into question why they are being made.

Several members of the Arlington community who have been intimately involved in the process of establishing choice programs – Marjorie Meyers, former Key Principal; Emma Viola Sanchez former School Board member—as well as those who are part of choice programs, and those who will be impacted by the changes being considered by the School Board have demonstrated their belief that keeping Key at Key is to preserve a community and a school of learning that serves its students so well. I find their arguments compelling and convincing. I hope the School Board does too.
